Triumph Bonneville Royals

UK: 125 built. Grey frame, black T140ES engine & cases with polished fins, extended black side panels with 'limited edition' decal, black headlamp bucket, Morris alloy wheels, double front disc with plain calipers, chrome with gold lined black scallops, plain Triumph badge, Italian (ie flip-up) 4 gallon tank, UK handlebars, no chromed rear disc caliper cover, certificate of ownership, Royal Wedding model handbook, 'Bonneville Royal 1981' side panel badge, black indicator mounts and instrument cups, black seat with black trim.



US/UK: 125 Built. Black frame, polished T140ES engine with silver barrels & cases, short smoked blue side panels with 'limited edition' decal, chrome headlamp bucket, Radaelli rim wire wheels, single front disc with chrome cover caliper, chrome with smoked blue scallops, picture frame 'Triumph' badge , 'Homers'-type (ie screw on filler cap) 2.5 gallon tank, USA 'full western' handlebars, certificate of ownership, Royal Wedding model handbook, 'Bonneville Royal 1981' side panel badge, chromed indicator mounts and instrument cups, grey/black seat with black trim.
The US model was an alternative and both seemed to be available to overseas markets except the USA. TMA (Triumph Motorcycles America) objected to the concept as unmarketable but soon changed their minds when they saw how well the Royals sold. Of course it was too late to call them 1981 Royal Weddings so the 1981 script was dropped and they were simply called Royals instead.

Black frame, black T140ES engine& cases  with polished fins, extended black side panels with 'limited edition' decal, black headlamp bucket, Morris alloy wheels, double front disc with plain calipers, black with dual gold line Italian (ie flip-up filler cap) 4 gallon tank, UK handlebars,, 'Bonneville Royal' side panel badge, black indicator mounts and instrument cups, black seat with black trim

All came with Marzocchi Strada rear suspension, Bing carbs, blade (not dog-leg) levers, Avon Roadrunners, rear disc brake, Lucas circular orange side reflectors, polished rear lamp housing, polished stainless mudguards, tacho, speedo, chromed grabrail, black ULO indicators, Royal tank bung badge.
